Our lab explores how cell-cell communication shapes the developing cerebral cortex, with a focus on cadherin superfamily adhesion proteins. Combining mouse molecular genetics with cellular and molecular approaches, we study the mechanisms by which these proteins regulate neuronal organization and connectivity.

A key line of research centers on Protocadherin-19 (PCDH19), an X-linked adhesion molecule implicated in epilepsy, to understand how its dysfunction disrupts cortical circuit formation.
